Skin Conditions
- Acne
Acne develops when sebaceous gland activity produces pimples on the face, back, and chest. It's common at every age, from the teenage years into adulthood, and treatment is tailored to severity to meaningfully reduce breakouts and scarring.
- Psoriasis
Psoriasis creates red patches of skin covered in white, flaky scales, typically on the elbows, knees, lower back, and scalp. It's a chronic condition that cycles between flare-ups and periods of remission, and it responds well to an individualized treatment plan.
- Rashes
Rashes are a broad category of skin changes that present as red patches, bumps, or blisters. Most are treatable, though persistent or unexplained rashes warrant an in-office evaluation to rule out an underlying cause.
- Rosacea
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory condition causing facial redness, acne-like pimples, visible blood vessels, swelling, and sometimes eye irritation. It's not contagious, and it's manageable with the right care.
Growths & Moles
- Moles (Nevi)
Moles are brown or black growths that can be flat, raised, rough, or smooth. They form when melanocyte cells cluster together instead of spreading evenly across the skin. Adults with light skin often have more moles, sometimes 10 to 40 of them, and it's normal for a mole to gradually darken or lighten over time.
- Warts
Warts are small, raised growths with a rough surface, caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) and most often appearing on the hands and feet. They may be round or oval, and lighter or darker than the surrounding skin. A harmless wart doesn't require removal, but it's reasonable to have one evaluated if it bothers you.
- Cysts
Epidermoid cysts (often called sebaceous cysts) are common, slow-growing bumps beneath the skin filled with dead skin cells. They're usually harmless but can become inflamed or infected. Cysts that are bothersome, growing, or recurrently inflamed can be removed in-office, a more reliable long-term solution than draining alone.
