Skin Cancers

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. Early detection significantly improves outcomes, which is why routine skin cancer screenings matter, especially if you have a personal or family history.

When to come in

The American Academy of Dermatology publishes the "ABCDEs of melanoma" as a guide to what's worth having checked. Have a spot evaluated promptly if it shows:

  • Asymmetry: one half doesn't match the other
  • Border that's irregular, ragged, or blurred
  • Color that varies within the same spot
  • Diameter larger than a pencil eraser
  • Evolving: any change in size, shape, or color over time
