Acne
Acne develops when sebaceous gland activity produces pimples on the face, back, and chest. It's common at every age, from the teenage years into adulthood, and treatment is tailored to severity to meaningfully reduce breakouts and scarring.
When to come in
Over-the-counter products handle a lot of mild acne. A visit is worth it when breakouts are deep and painful, or when nothing you've tried at home is working.
- Deep, painful breakouts rather than surface pimples
- Acne that hasn't responded to over-the-counter treatment
- Breakouts leaving dark marks or scarring behind
- Difficulty telling what type of breakout you're dealing with
